Ekokobe Fonkem DO

Dr. Ekokobe Fonkem is a neurologist with specialized expertise in neuro-oncology, focused on the care of patients with brain tumors and neurologic complications related to cancer. He serves as Vice Chair and Professor of Neurology and is Chief of Neuro-oncology at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center and the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. Dr. Fonkem earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed residency training in neurology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, followed by advanced fellowship training in neuro-oncology at Harvard University Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Fonkem is engaged in research centered on neuro-oncology, brain tumors, and translational cancer research, with the goal of advancing understanding and treatment strategies for complex neurologic cancers. He is licensed to practice in Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
