About

James E. Popp, MD, is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hand and upper-extremity care for both adult and pediatric patients. His clinical interests include carpal tunnel syndrome, wrist arthroscopy, joint replacement for arthritis, and complex reconstructive microvascular surgery, with an emphasis on restoring function and reducing pain through individualized treatment plans. Dr. Popp completed his undergraduate studies at Case Western Reserve University with a concentration in musculoskeletal studies. He then pursued a general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at The Ohio State University Medical Center/Ohio State University Hospitals, including participation in an orthopaedic surgery research fellowship. He advanced his subspecialty training with a fellowship in hand and upper-extremity surgery at the Indiana Hand Center. Board certified in Orthopedic Surgery with subspecialty certification in Hand Surgery, Dr. Popp serves as Director of Hand Services at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He has contributed to peer-reviewed research in hand and pediatric hand topics and has been recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
