James Nappi, MD, is a physician specializing in Surgery of the Hand within the field of plastic surgery. He is board-certified in Plastic Surgery and holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Nappi completed medical school at The Ohio State University, followed by internship and surgical residency training at Summa Akron City Hospital. He then completed a plastic surgery residency at The Ohio State University and advanced fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery at the Curtis National Hand Center in Baltimore. A founding member of Hand and Microsurgery Associates, Dr. Nappi practiced orthopedic hand surgery there for many years and is now retired from private practice. He continues to contribute to the organization by working with the Board as counsel on special projects. Clinically, Dr. Nappi’s experience includes injuries of the fingers, hand, wrist, and arm, with particular interest in sports injuries and fractures in young athletes. His areas of focus also include wrist injuries and minimally invasive fracture repair, arthritic conditions of the hand and wrist, endoscopic carpal and cubital tunnel release, and treatment of Dupuytren’s disease, including minimally invasive needle aponeurotomy. He is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, and the American Society of Peripheral Nerve.
