Joseph J. McCarter, DC, is a chiropractor serving the Parkersburg, West Virginia, community with decades of clinical experience. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Arizona and completed his Doctorate of Chiropractic at Palmer College of Chiropractic. Dr. McCarter has pursued advanced training in chiropractic orthopedics and physiological therapeutics, with additional expertise in impairment ratings and disability evaluations. His clinical interests also include cervical whiplash injuries, sports injury diagnosis and treatment, workplace ergonomics and workstation evaluations, and OSHA workplace standards. He is certified in cold laser therapy.
Beyond clinical care, Dr. McCarter has been active in professional leadership and public service. He previously served as Chief Examiner for the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners at the Atlanta testing site and oversaw administration of the Part IV Board Examination for many years. He has held numerous leadership roles within the West Virginia Chiropractic Society and has been recognized for professional achievement. Dr. McCarter also served on the West Virginia Board of Examiners, including a term as chair, and is listed as an Independent Medical Examiner by the state. He is a member of national and state chiropractic associations and speaks Spanish.
