Joseph Clerisme MD

Joseph Clerisme, MD, is a psychiatrist with added expertise in geriatric psychiatry, providing evaluation and treatment for a wide range of mental health conditions with special attention to the emotional and cognitive needs of older adults. He earned his medical degree from Ecole de Medecine / Universite d'Etat d'Haiti and completed residency training in psychiatry at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center. He then pursued fellowship training in geriatric psychiatry at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Clerisme is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. His clinical approach emphasizes careful assessment, individualized treatment planning, and collaboration with patients and families to support long-term stability, functioning, and quality of life. Dr. Clerisme is multilingual and is able to care for patients in English, French, and Haitian Creole, helping support clear communication and culturally responsive care. In addition to his clinical work, he has contributed to the medical community through leadership service with the Haitian Medical Association Abroad.
