Dr. Richard Portune is a general practice dentist serving the Dayton, Ohio area. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Dayton and completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at The Ohio State University. Following dental school, Dr. Portune served on active duty as a Captain in the U.S. Army Dental Corps, an experience that helped shape his commitment to clinical excellence and service.
After his military service, he returned to the Dayton region and established a solo dental practice, providing comprehensive, patient-centered care. In addition to private practice, Dr. Portune has held leadership roles in organized dentistry and dental consulting, including serving as Past President of the American Association of Dental Consultants and as a board member of the Dayton Dental Society. He has also contributed to dental benefits administration as a former President and Chairman of the Board of Superior Dental Care and has continued to serve as a dental director.
Dr. Portune’s professional interests include advancing quality and integrity in dental care, as well as community engagement. His service includes humanitarian dental mission work in Belize and longstanding civic leadership through the Dayton Sister City program.
