Robert A. Hess, MD, is a family medicine physician with broad experience in clinical practice and healthcare leadership. He earned his medical degree from the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine after completing undergraduate study in chemistry at Marshall University. He completed residency training in family medicine at OhioHealth/Riverside Methodist Hospital, building a strong foundation in comprehensive, patient-centered primary care.
Dr. Hess is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and has maintained medical licensure in multiple states, reflecting a wide scope of professional practice. In addition to caring for patients, he has held senior leadership roles, including serving as president of a large physician practice group. He is also a co-founder, president, and medical director of OVP HEALTH, where his work has focused on strengthening access to high-quality care and advancing effective clinical operations.
His interests include the delivery of comprehensive primary care and the systems that support it, and he has contributed to peer-reviewed publications related to healthcare operations and the nursing workforce. Dr. Hess also supports his alma mater through service associated with the Marshall University Foundation.
