Ryan P. Peirson, MD, is a physician specializing in forensic psychiatry. He serves as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine and holds the role of Chief of Forensic Psychiatry within the Department of Psychiatry. In addition to his forensic leadership responsibilities, Dr. Peirson contributes to physician training as Assistant Training Director for the General Psychiatry Residency and provides resident education through course and seminar leadership in forensic psychiatry didactics. Dr. Peirson’s clinical work includes outpatient psychiatric care with Wright State Physicians. His expertise also extends to addiction medicine; he is a Certified Specialist in Addiction Medicine through the American Board of Preventive Medicine. He brings experience from prior public-sector forensic services leadership within the Ohio mental health system, supporting the interface of clinical psychiatry, public safety, and legal standards. He is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a member of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law. Dr. Peirson also serves as faculty with the Neuropsychiatry Branch at the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine, where he has contributed as an aerospace psychiatry consultant.
